The Altra Sole of the City 10K presented by Kelly Benefits is a 2,500+ person footrace taking place on Saturday, April 5, 2025. In addition to providing a recreational opportunity for City residents and visitors, the event also supports several local nonprofit and community groups including Pathfinders for Autism.
If you live, work, or travel through downtown Baltimore City (including the Inner Harbor, Fells Point, Harbor East, and Harbor Point) on April 5th you will encounter new traffic patterns and temporary closures along the race route. The information on this page is intended to minimize congestion and allow you to get where you need to go with as minimal disruption as possible.
Please reduce your speed and obey the direction of public safety officials if you plan to travel during the event.

Traffic Modifications for 2025 Altra Sole of the City 10K presented by Kelly Benefits
Charm City Run Events will be holding their annual Sole of the City 10K presented by Kelly Benefits on Saturday, April 5, 2025. Please note that road closures and parking restrictions will be in effect from as early as 12:00 a.m. EDT on event day. Between 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., people should expect substantial traffic congestion and considerable delays in the downtown area, which will not abate until after the conclusion of the running event.
The 10K course kicks off at 8:30 a.m. on S. Caroline Street near Harbor Point and proceeds left on Eastern Ave, left onto the promenade at the Eastern Avenue Bridge, left on the promenade between Piers 5 & 6, around the lighthouse on Pier 5, left on the bridge between Piers 4 & 5, left around the perimeter of Pier 4, and left on the promenade at the Powerplant Building to continue around to the Maryland Science Center. Participants will exit the promenade right onto Key Highway, right on Light Street, right on Pratt Street, left on Patterson Park Avenue, and right into Patterson Park across from Lombard Street. Participants will exit the park at Eastern Avenue, turn left onto Patterson Park Avenue, right on Fleet Street, left on Central Avenue across the bridge to finish at Harbor Point Plaza Park.
In preparation for the event, the following roadways will be closed to through traffic on Saturday, April 5, 2025 from approximately 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with detours and parking restrictions in effect:
S. Central Avenue between Fleet and Dock Streets
S. Caroline Street between Eastern Avenue and Thames Street
Dock St West of S. Caroline Street
Point St between S. Central Avenue and Thames Street
In addition, one lane of travel will be coned off for participants along the race route wherever possible.
Transportation Enforcement Officers along with the Baltimore City Police will be stationed along the race route to help facilitate the movement of traffic. Commuters should be aware that temporary traffic stops will be implemented for the safety of participants. Citizens traveling in this vicinity should expect delays, allow additional travel time, and use alternate routes during the event. Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for pedestrians and changing traffic patterns, and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

The following parking restrictions will be in effect along the route from 12:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.:
S. Caroline Street - between Dock and Thames Streets (both sides)
Dock St - West of S. Caroline Street (both sides)
S. Central Avenue - South of Lancaster Street (both sides)
Point St - between S. Central Avenue and Caroling/Thames Street (both sides)
Wills St - South of Dock St (both sides)
HARBOR POINT CLOSURES
Staggered road closures will be effect around Harbor Point on race day.
Streets are color coded as follows:
RED streets will close by 5:30 AM to secure the finish line and post-race area
ORANGE streets will close by 7:30 AM to secure the start line area
GREEN streets will close by 8:10 AM to prepare for the start of the race
