COURSE
Starting and finishing at Harbor Point, the 2025 course will visit scenic areas of Downtown Baltimore, Harbor East, Federal Hill, Harbor Point and the Inner Harbor Promenade.
Course Time Limit: The Sole of the City 10K has a course time limit of 2 hours (19:21/mile pace). This is calculated from the time your wave crosses the start line. Participants who fall behind this pace may be asked to move to the sidewalk to allow streets to reopen in accordance with the event permit.
“I was so impressed with the amount of support on the course. The pacers, medical runners, traffic enforcement and police made this a very pleasant running experience.”
COURSE BREAKDOWN
Looking for some insight on what to expect from the course? We’ve broken the course into 3 main segments:
Start to Mile 3
Due to the corral starts, runners and walkers are spread out from the start as they move through the wide streets of Harbor East and onto the narrower Inner Harbor Promenade around mile 1. This section is FLAT and features beautiful waterfront views - perfect for settling into your race pace! You’ll exit the Promenade onto Key Highway and Light Street before the gentle turn onto Pratt Street. The first aid station awaits at Mile 3, and you’ll want to grab a drink.
Mile 3 to Mile 4
If you love hills you’re in for a treat! The 4th mile of the race features a steady climb on Pratt Street up to Patterson Park. The key to this section? PACE! Be conservative with your effort as you cross over Broadway and pass through Upper Fells Point. The hill continues as you turn off Pratt onto Patterson Park Drive, but one you enter the park you’ve reached the high point on the course and it’s time to enjoy some downhill!
Mile 4 to Finish
With the exception of a slight incline section in the middle of the Park, it’s all downhill from here! You’ll explore Baltimore’s oldest park on foot and pass by the second aid station at Mile 5 before exiting and heading back through Fells Point. The finish line awaits as you cross the Central Avenue Bridge into Harbor Point. Congratulations - you earned that finisher medal!
WATER STOPS AND RESTROOMS
2 water stops will be available on course at the following locations:
Water Stop #1 - Pratt Street @ Central Avenue (approx. 3 miles)
Water Stop #2 - Patterson Park (approx. 5 miles)
Portable restrooms will also be located at each water stop.
